Jane Austen's tale of two devoted sisters with totally differing attitudes to life and love. Filmed on location in the stately homes of picturesque Dorset and Somerset.

“This Sense & Sensibility was a new departure technically in that the BBC took an outside broadcast unit with mobile scanner and a two video camera set up on location for the whole thing. Prior to that BBC classic dramas were shot partly on location (film) but mainly in studio (video) so the quality of picture was varied between the two. ”

“This version, although good, is not as vibrant as the lastest version of this Austen classic. I was quite dissapointed when I recieved this DVD fron the BBC's shop to find it was an earler version. the latest offering is much better than this version and to my mind better filmed in the seaside area. To be quite critical the colour balance seemed as if it was shot on the indooor version of film (by this 'tungsten instead of daylight). in places this film is quite dark as in under exposed! If you are considering buying this film then ensure you order the 2008 version, you will have to search for this but do make sure it is the correct 2008 version! ”
