Cult Hero status in football doesn't have to mean being the most gifted individual on the pitch. Sometimes big hair, a big tummy, or even a loveable personality can be just as good a way in. While some players earn the support of fans through years of unwavering dedication to their club, others become sacred simply through a single moment of magic or complete disaster.

Every week from Aug 04 to May 05, BBC1's Football Focus searched for the nation's all-time favourite footballing cult heroes. Over the season they put up three nominees for every club in the main English and Scottish divisions (134 clubs in all). Viewers then voted for a winner in every club. The winners, runners up and an all-time Cult Eleven are featured in this accompanying illustrated book.

Tongue-in-cheek humour and some hilarious moments capture the spirit of this light-hearted look at the much-loved Cult Heroes of Britain's favourite sport.
