Dead Heat opens on the night before the Two Thousand Guineas at Newmarket. The horse-racing community is gathered for a prestigious Gala dinner and top chef Max Moreton is cooking the meal. Max is a celebrity in Newmarket circles, founder of the town’s favourite Michelin-starred restaurant. However, spending the night in the throes of agony is the last thing Max expects. But worse is to come . . . his food is suspected of putting 24 of the dinner guests in hospital. Max’s pride and professionalism tells him all is not as it seems. Within hours, his restaurant is closed, his reputation on the brink of ruin and a court case looms.
