Starring: Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton
Enter the weird and wonderfully twisted world of Royston Vasey - an isolated and rather odd town somewhere in the North. Its singular inhabitants lead dark lives, from Dr Chinnery, the lethally incompetent vet to Pauline, the monstrous Restart Officer at the Job Centre. The town's strange inhabitants are ferried about by Barbara, the meaty taxi-driving transexual and served by Tubbs and Edward, the inbred local shop-owning couple with a mortal hatred of strangers.
Playing some 60 characters in total, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith have created what is widely regarded as one of the most original comedy series of recent years and one which has already become a cult classic.
DVD Extras: Director's audio commentary; photo gallery; biographies; over 20 minutes of unseen material.

Your review of 'League of Gentlemen: Series 1 (DVD)' has been sent.
“The League Of Gentlemen are a unique team of script writers/ performers who have created possibly the most random, but utterly addictive characters knows to the BBC. The series is often referred to as a dark comedy as the humour has aspects of a horror movie weaved in, but also lovable charaters and a brilliant take on country life in England. It is refreshing to see such a show become so successful and mention 'local' towns as opposed to the big city life in which we are always sucked in by today. If you have not had the chance to view the work of The League, this DVD series as a must! The jokes are daring, the plot is complex tying all of Royston Vasey's inhabitants into one extremely satisfying tale, and last but not least- the acting is superb.
The town of Royston Vasey will keep you awake at night, ensure that you are entirely frightened yet intruiged about the not-so-normal country life, and have you in fits after the first five minutes. 5 stars, I hope all who buy enjoy this witty and accurate portrayal of small town life, and trust me- you'll never leave! ”
