The Maltby Collection is the creator of Reginald Perrin and A Bit of a Do's David Nobbs' first radio sitcom set in a London museum and starring Geoffrey Palmer and Julian Rhind-Tutt (Green Wing). Rod Millett (Rhind-Tutt) has always dreamed of working at The Maltby Collection. He used to visit as a teen to lust after Whistler's Sister – and Mother: he wasn't picky back then. On becoming the Museum's deputy curator of painting and sculpture, however, it quickly becomes clear that the chavvy son of a self-made biscuit mogul isn't going to fit neatly into the musty, insular world of London antiquities. The Maltby Collection is threatened with closure and Rhind Tutt rescues the museum much to the annoyance of it's director Palmer , who was planning a profitable early retirement. An all star cast including Hugh Dennis, Barry Cryer, Ben Willbond, Geoffrey McGivern in a very well conceived and superbly executed gentle comedy.

“Brilliant series, well written and well acted. Geoffrey Palmer as the fuddy-duddy boss and the ever-wonderful Julian Rhind-Tutt as the chavvy enthusiastic new boy lead a group of talented actors. David Nobbs wrote the play for distinguishable voices, so you can tell who each character is just by their voices. Make sure you listen to this great series, there's also a second series currently being broadcast on Radio 4 (June 2008).”
