• The town of Vigata featured in the books and TV show is based on Porto Empedocle where the author grew up; Salvo fans should head to the Bar Vigata (on which the Caffe Albanese is based) before walking a few yards down the road to look at the statue of the famous fictional detective leaning up against a lamppost.
