Impossible murders on a beautiful Caribbean island. DI Richard Poole is the perfect man to solve them – if only he didn’t just hate sun, sea and sand…
A warm, light-hearted detective series about an inspector who is assigned to investigate a murder on the paradise island of Saint-Marie in the Caribbean, unfortunately Detective Inspector Richard Poole is a total fish out of water.
A typical British cop, he would much prefer the London drizzle and a freshly pressed shirt to blue seas, sparkling sands and gorgeous tropical weather.
Awaiting Richard is a ramshackle station and a very different type of policing. The fact that there’s a goat in one of the cells says it all.
His new partner, DS Camille Bordey, is instinctive, feisty and brilliant, not to mention beautiful. On top of it, the rest of the team certainly have their own unique way of doing things.
He can’t get out of there fast enough, but there’s a job to do and he does it brilliantly. His reward – a permanent posting to the island, his own personal hell on earth.
Death In Paradise is a fish out of water story about a quintessential English cop posted to the Caribbean island of Sainte Marie.

“Buy it, it is the most amazing thing I have watched on TV and I am 13. I hope there is more in 2012!”
“I preordered this series in April and was so pleased when it finally arrived. I loved this series and recorded it at home so that I could rewatch it at my leisure. The characters are great and I grew to love them, became concerned about theirs "lives" and was really happy when the baby was born. Some crime shows take themselves too seriously but his one contained every day humour that I loved. The only reason that I have rated the show at 4 is that the BBC have not included any EXTRAS in the DVD. Really BBC get into the 21st century. Often the main reason people buy DVD's is for the extras put in some "bloppers", "outtakes", interviews with the actors etc etc. The only extra they have included is subtitles! I loved this series so much that I would be happy to buy a second DVD IF it contains EXTRAS. I'm now keeping my fingers crossed that a second series is produced.”
