In this new BBC series Gareth Malone (The Choir) takes on his biggest challenge yet: to join the creative and production teams at Glyndebourne and help put on a new opera to be performed at Glyndebourne in 2010, by incorporating an ambitious large-scale children’s chorus into the show. Will Gareth be able to bring the children up to standard in time to perform at one of the country’s most prestigious opera companies?

To put on a new opera at Glyndebourne is no mean feat. Working as chorus leader/vocal coach, Gareth will oversee everything from the casting of the performers to every rehearsal, working alongside the rest of the creative team of composer and librettist, and the production team of stage director, conductor, set designer, to agree on costumes, sets, and most importantly how the music and story will be interpreted.
