Heroes is easily my favorite new show of the past year. It is about a group of super-powered individuals who first discover their powers, and how they deal with this discovery. There is actually an underlying mythology that is slowly unraveled during the season, and we slowly see the big picture. The writers have actually already worked out a lot of the past stories, so we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg so far. In fact they have hidden a lot of clues starting from the pilot, many of which still don’t make sense, and probably will only when we get to the second season. That is a huge plus for re-watch value. I can’t wait to get the DVD of this season and re-watch it all for the hidden clues. Being a comics fan helps me in the enjoyment of this series, but this a realistic look at super powers. In fact these heroes do not wear tights and go out to fight crime. This is not at all about that. They are normal people who suddenly are involved in a big event. Some of them don’t want to have anything to do with it, some of them feel compelled to “save the world”.
