Last Friday, I managed to get this (eagerly awaited) DVD of the series that my wife and I both loved when it was first shown on BBC2.Our only disappointment concerns the changes made to the music soundtrack which was such a fundamental part of what was a fantastic and memorable viewing experience. This is really noticeable in the final part of the series when Francesco travels to Sicily, meets his mother and is reunited with his family. I still have the episode which I recorded on video and the original music, which was from the finale of "Cinema Paradiso" has been replaced with an altogether different track. Sorry to nitpick, but after waiting so long for the DVD release I expected the series to be as we first watched it on television. I assume the omissions are due to issues with gaining the relevant licenses for various pieces of music? In spite of this, an excellent series and a must for all lovers of Italy and Italian culture and history. Thanks for releasing it at last.
