These two linked six parters have the makings of epics, and epitomise the Pertwee era. The innovative costume and mask designs of the Draconians are beautiful.Planet of the Daleks almost manages to pull off what is movie material. While the jungle studio set initially seems stagey, it is saved by location film work in episode five. Studio film inserts and model film material manage to give the story a comic strip book feel. Pertwee is at his best. Personally I could not live without this adventure.
