John Elliott

The latest DVD restoration has absolutely transformed 'The Daemons'. It's light years away from the 1992 version, as the colour has been successfully integrated into the film stock, with all the scratches removed from the image. The restored image is 95% as good as the sole original ep 4. The vid-fire technique is brilliant, and the story now flows properly, losing the heavy quality that made the '92 version difficult to watch. It's almost like a different story, with lots of small details like camera angles etc and set designs now in sharp focus. The colour is also more saturated, esp ep 5, not washed out. The version of the original colourisation of ep 1 shows a much rougher quality, some detail over colourised when it shouldn't have been etc, very much poorer compared to this.
