Michael Jacobs

This was broadcast just "moments" before the epic BBC Radio 4 dramatisation of Lord of the Rings. It has everything a great spoof should have - great heroes, epic shouting, and a colour map of "Middlesea". The characters are recognisable to any fantasy fan, and wonderful casting (Eddington, Callow, Margolies, et al) make this one of my favourite radio comedies of all time. I first heard it in 1980, and have waited years for the BBC to release it in any form. I had a pair of worn-out tapes from 1980, long since lost, and this will be the first time I can relive the joy of hearing about the Evil Flesh-Eating Lord of Craarn ("He's NOT a cannibal..."), how log-poaching is ravaging the kingdom, and how easy it is to "convert" to the faith of The Evil One
