A rating of four and a half would be more appropriate and I would have given it a five if there had been additional episodes brought to the screen. Although a completely different type of detective story than the very successful Poirot series and equal with the English version of the Miss Marple stories, this has to be one of the best televised detective drama series available. The stories although not too complicated are brought to life by a well chosen cast who fit the reader's image of the character to a "T". The memorable "one liners" that are sprinkled throughout each story were likely quite shocking at the time that these stories were published and for the most part, mimic and poke fun at modern morals and ideals. The settings as well as the lavish "Roaring Twenties" costumes are magnificent. It's unfortunate that there were no more than these four episodes made.I highly recommend this series to those who don't need to be drenched in "blood and guts" in order to e njoy a good murder mystery.Enjoy!
