I was a Lord of the Rings fan before I hit my teens (a few decades ago now). I first heard this when it came out on Radio 4 and was given the boxed set (cassettes) for my first wedding anniversary. I love the series and Michael Hordern and Ian Holm are perfect as Gandalf and Frodo.The action scenes will not match up with the movies for some but are well done.The only reason I marked it as 4 and not 5 was that Theoden grated with me sometimes.Listen to this with the lights out and eyes closed and let it sweep over you and you will not be disappointed.
